Welcome to a digital chapter of American literary history. Start by watching the video on the right, then click the different buttons at the top of this page to embark on this educational journey. On each page, you'll find videos and photos that will teach you about each topic

This video is the intro of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's documentary Listen for the Whistle, which is about their 1944 Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive. Why use this for the introduction to my project as well? Notice that the first part of the video is a Henry David Thoreau quote. While the quote is not about this particular locomotive, it is about its predecessors. Since 1828, railroads have influenced the economy and culture of Americans, and Transcendentalists are no exception to those influenced. So enjoy a good video as you embark on a journey explaining the influence of railroads on American Transcendentalism!
